The village pub that the village saved.

When The Maybush closed in 2015, Great Oakley lost more than a place to have a drink. It lost a place where people met, talked and shared village life.

The community rallied. More than 180 shareholders and members helped raise over £80,000, and in 2016 the doors opened again. Today, the pub remains community owned and volunteer run.

From humble beginnings, with furniture begged, borrowed and donated, The Maybush has grown into a vibrant space for families, dogs, walkers, cyclists and the wider village community.

A repeated Tendring CAMRA Pub of the Year winner, it is also recognised for the range and quality of its ales.
